We were delighted to receive some pictures of our specialist Moving and Handling equipment being used by the Befrienders for Disability Charity in their amazing Disability Day Care Centre in Kenya.

This day centre provides incredible support for people living with a disability in an area with little available healthcare and where poverty is a fact of daily life for most.

Children and many adults in rural Kenya are often left at home while parents or other family members go out to work. Without any other way of ensuring their safety, many are locked up, increasing their sense of isolation.

Due to the lack of disability equipment, some would be left lying on the bare floor. Therefore, coming to the Day Care facility is a huge benefit to those with disabilities.

Befrienders for Disability approached us recently regarding their work in Kenya and we were only too happy to help subsidise some equipment that they brought with them last month.

In the Day Care Centre they support at the Metropolitan Sanctuary, they provide a programme of play centred activities for children living with disabilities. The sanctuary also offers bus service to collect children each day and bring them home afterwards.

The staff often struggle to move and handle centre users, so the introduction of a Molift Raiser has made an massive difference. Befreinders for Disability also brought a Nurse to help train the staff who are very happy with their new equipment.
